We grow and sell some truly awesome plants and produce. But did you know there’s a lot more to Radical Roots Farm?

  • We use sustainable methods of farming such as cover cropping, crop rotation, attracting beneficial insects and applying compost. Without the use of synthetic chemicals, herbicides and pesticides, we rely on hand labor and natural cycles for the healthiest soil, roots and plants.

We have been farming since 2000 and have always been ahead of the curve in terms of innovative growing practices and consistently producing high quality products.  We are GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) certified, which few local farms in our area are. It is essentially a food safety audit program.

    We are USDA Certified Organic.

  • We serve the local low-income community in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County with weekly vegetables from April through September. We work with over 18 partners to get organic vegetables to those who need it most.

See a day in the life of this program page here.

  • We offer teaching tours of the farm and make presentations at permaculture conferences several times a year. We prefer to teach targeted groups who will actively use what we share in their own permaculture endeavors (for example: we love to teach other farmers, veterans seeking to start farms and businesses like ours, and students pursuing careers in sustainable agriculture).

Working for our seasonal farm crew is a fantastic opportunity for hands-on learning and focused mentorship. See our Employment page for details.

  • We are available for individual mentoring and private consulting, and we love to do it! Please contact us for more information.
